Why Isn't My Spokenote Connecting to My Account on iPhone?

If you're scanning a Spokenote QR code on an iPhone and your video isn't being saved to your account—or you're not seeing options like "Record," "Upload," or adding a page title—the culprit may be Safari's Private Browsing Mode.

Here's How to Fix It

Step 1: Check if You're Using a Private Safari Tab

When Safari is in Private Browsing mode, some account-related features may not work correctly.

Signs you're in Private Browsing:

• Safari displays "Private" at the bottom of your browser window.
• Scanned Spokenotes don't appear tied to your account.
• You don't see options to create or title a video page.
• Certain editing tools may be missing.

Step 2: Switch to a Regular Safari Tab

1. Open Safari.
2. Tap the Tabs button (two overlapping squares).
3. Tap Private at the bottom of the screen.
4. Select Start Page or a regular tab group.
5. Open a new standard Safari tab.

Step 3: Scan Your Spokenote Again

Once you're in a regular Safari tab:

✅ Scan the QR code again.

✅ You should now see the option to Record or Upload a video.

✅ Your video will be associated with your Spokenote account.

✅ You'll have access to page creation and editing features.

Still Missing the Edit Bar?

If the Edit options aren't appearing, double-check that you're no longer in Private Browsing mode and refresh the page after scanning the QR code again.

In most cases, switching from a Private Safari tab to a regular Safari tab resolves the issue immediately.

Private Browsing is great for keeping your browser history hidden—but not so great for creating and managing Spokenotes. For the best experience, use a regular Safari tab when recording, editing, and managing your video pages.
