What’s a CTA in the Business Workspace (Besides Sounding Super Fancy)?

This article explains what a CTA button is, how to add one to a Spokenote video page in the Business Workspace, and what your options are if you need to update it later. Standalone Pages can always be reset. Campaigns are more restrictive: Manage Collectively campaigns (the default for most Dynamic Video campaigns) lock the CTA permanently once saved, while Manage Individually campaigns allow page-by-page resets.

A CTA — short for Call to Action — is your video's bestie. It's the clickable button that sits right below your Spokenote video, helping guide your viewer to take the next step (like "Visit Website," "Schedule Time," or even "Send Me a High Five").

How to Add a CTA

In the Spokenote Business Workspace, you can easily add CTAs when editing a video page:

  1. Create or Edit a Page – Hit that "Create Page" button and give your masterpiece a title.
  2. Jump to the Editor – From the overview page, click "Editor" to open the landing page builder.
  3. Add Your Video – Toggle ON the "Video" section and either record or upload your message.
  4. Add a Button (a.k.a. CTA) – Toggle ON the "Button" section. Type in your CTA text ("Shop Now," "Watch More," "Hire Me" — go wild).
  5. Choose What It Does – You can link to a URL, email, phone number, or even another video.
  6. Style It – Customize your button's color and text to match your brand — or just to look fabulous.

"Can I Change My CTA After Saving?"

This depends on what type of page you're working with:

Standalone Page (not part of a campaign): Yes. You can reset the page at any time using the self-serve "Reset Page" option in the Page Editor, then rebuild the CTA with new text, action, or destination.

Campaign — Manage Collectively: This is the setting most people use for Dynamic Video campaigns. Once the campaign is saved, the CTA — like the video and everything else on every page — is locked permanently. There's no self-serve way to update it. If the CTA needs to change, the current path is to build a new campaign with the correct setup before saving.

Campaign — Manage Individually: Individual pages within the campaign can be reset using the same "Reset Page" option, letting you rebuild that page's CTA with new text, action, or destination. The tradeoff: you can't push a CTA update to every page in the campaign at once — it's one page at a time.

Quick Reference

Setup Can I change the CTA after saving?
Standalone Page ✅ Yes, anytime via Reset Page
Campaign — Manage Collectively ❌ No — locked permanently on every page
Campaign — Manage Individually ✅ Yes — by resetting the individual page

Whether you're closing deals, driving traffic, or just making life easier for viewers, a well-placed CTA gets the job done — and looks good doing it. Just make sure it's set up right the first time if you're on a Manage Collectively campaign, because there's no take-backs.

💡 Pro tip: Always set your CTA before uploading your video. Once it's live, whether you can change it depends on what you're building — Click here to view a video walkthrough
